Professional Hawaii moving company Royal Hawaiian Movers continues to show support for the Hawaiian community. Royal Hawaiian Movers was once again a proud sponsor at this year’s 16th Annual Patriots Celebration, an annual fundraising event organized by the Hawaii Foodbank. This annual event both honors Hawaii’s outstanding patriots, while helping to shed awareness for the Hawaii Foodbank’s cause.
This year the fundraiser was held in honor of “Special Operations Forces in the Pacific,” which included the following:
- U.S. Air Force Special Operations Forces
- U.S. Army Special Forces
- U.S. Marine Force Reconnaissance Units
- U.S. Navy Seals
Some Previous Honored Patriots include the following:
- 2004 – The Hawaii National Guard
- 2005 – Patriots of December 7, 1941
- 2007- Hawaii’s Korean War Veterans
- 2008 – 4th Force Reconnaissance Company, USMC
- 2009 – Hawaii’s WWII Filipino-American U.S. Army Veterans
- 2010 – Hawaii’s Vietnam Ware Purple Heart Recipients
The money that is raised by this annual event goes to support the Hawaii Food Bank, an organization comprised solely of non-paid volunteers. Many of us, blinded by Hawaii’s majestic beauty and white sandy beaches, are unaware of Hawaii’s growing hunger problem. Recent studies reported by Hunger in America in 2010, suggest that over 14% of Hawaii’s population is receiving emergency food assistance through the Hawaii Foodbank network. This accounts for over 183,500 islanders, to which 55,050 are estimated to be children and over 11,000 are seniors.
As one of the leading Hawaiian moving companies, Royal Hawaiian Movers continues to proudly sponsor a table at this annual event. For more about this organization, or to find out how YOU can get involved, please visit http://www.hawaiifoodbank.org
